Every generation and every location of Jesus Followers have an opportunity to make a choice: Will we contribute to the good reputation of Jesus or will we pollute the reputation? Jesus' vision for the church is to be much more than a group of people who sing songs and listen to sermons, but a people who genuinely love others by being salt & light. How can we be salt & light? Small, consistent, collective contributions of giving and serving. From October 1st through the end of year, all of us are challenged to be salt and light, to give and to serve, so that our community can taste and see Jesus.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven." - Matthew 5:13-16
